The Prince of Egypt - The story of Moses
Moses grew up in Pharaoh's house, a prince of Egypt but he had been taught by his mother about who he really was. Moses knew that one day God would use him to rescue the Israelites from the land of Egypt.
Things were still pretty bad for God's people, they worked as slaves and their baby boys were still getting killed. One day, when Moses was grown up, he saw an Egyptian hurting an Israelite. Moses jumped in to protect the Israelite and killed the Egyptian. When Pharaoh found out he wanted to kill Moses. And so Moses ran away, he didn't think he would make a good rescuer after all. He went to the land of Midian. Watch the video to find out about Moses' life in Midian.
One day when Moses was looking after the sheep something very strange happened, the angel of God appeared in a burning bush. The bush was burning but didn't burn up. God spoke to Moses from this bush and said, "Moses I have heard the cries of my people in Egypt, I am going to save them through you. You must go to Pharaoh and tell him to let my people go!"
Think
Have you ever made excuses when you haven't wanted to do something? That's what Moses started to do. "I'm not a very good speaker God, Pharaoh wouldn't want to listen to me, and what if the Israelites don't believe you sent me?! I just can't do it"
But God had chosen Moses to be the rescuer, no excuses, God would be with him.
Moses went to address Pharaoh. Pharaoh merely laughed. He would not let the Israelites go. Pharaoh thought that his own magicians and gods could do anything Moses' God could. Pharaoh wasn't afraid. He should have been. God was going to show Pharaoh that all of his many gods weren't real. There was only one true God and He was going to rescue His people and do some pretty incredible things in Egypt.
