World Around Us – Natural Disasters
Lesson 2 – Where can we find volcanoes?
In this lesson you will focus on the ‘Ring of Fire.’ This is where the majority of volcanoes on the Earth can be found and that is because of the tectonic plates.
Step 1 – Watch the ‘Explore Volcanoes’ YouTube video
Step 2 – Watch the ‘Ring of Fire’ YouTube video
Step 3 - Read the 'Ring of Fire' PowerPoint
Step 4 – Open up the ‘Ring of Fire’ poster and look at the different locations of the tectonic plates
Step 5 – Using the ‘Ring of Fire’ poster, complete the ‘Ring of Fire Activity Sheet’
Step 6 – Complete the ‘Ring of Fire Mini Booklet’ (If you do not have a printer, you can complete this on a piece of paper. As an added challenge you could try to draw the ‘Ring of Fire’ yourself!)
*When you open both documents for steps 4 and 5, the answers are also included.
