Mrs Grummit taught at Elmgrove from 1970-72. She recounted how one day she had all the children lying under their tables as they could hear an aircraft spluttering and thought it woul crash into the school. It nearly did. The children drew pictures about the incident. If anyone can supply more information, especially a specific date, it would be aprreciated.

Mrs. Grummitt was sure that the plane crashed on a local factory and after checking it crashed on Calverts. The date was the 10th October 1972 as Calverts kept newspaper cuttings from the time.
