Mrs. Chambers' Class 2000 - 2001

Information about P.6 Work: Mr. Livingston's Class on an E.M.U. Trip to Dublin

Mr. Livingston's Class on an E.M.U. Residential to Cultra

In P.6 the children have written a description of an alien, using as many adjectives as they could. They have also created Cinquain poems - five lined poems. A variety of alliteration poems were read and work carried out to create other poems.
In the new year the class went on an E.M.U. trip to Dublin to the National Museum of Ireland and Dublin's Viking Adventure to study the History topic the Vikings. They wrote about it and entered a competition with poems about Life in a Viking Village.
An E.M.U. trip to Cultra produced writing (and the E.M.U. quilt) as did Superhero stories and a Viking story started where Vikings see a house with a lit fire with writing on what happened next.

Everyone loves this School
Because it is really cool
Children running and laughing
Having lots of fun
But when it comes to English and sums
The children are so glum
Listening to what the teachers say
Children pratising for sports day
Everything is just so cool
This is our school

I've been in this school for the last six years
And when I leave I'll be in tears
I'll miss my friends and teachers too
When I go to my new school
This is Elmgrove Primary School

Canada

Canada is in North America, it shares a border with the U.S.A. Part of Canada is in the Arctic Cicle, so part of Canada is cold during the winter.
Churchill is a town in Northern Canada it is by the shores of Hudson Bay. The temperature goes as low as -40 degrees. If the temperature goes as low as this the Churchill River and Hudson Bay will freeze.
When it gets cold polar bears become a problem with the people and this becomes a problem because food is scarce. If the polar bears are caught around the houses the get taken to a special jail called the polar bear compound.

The Vikings are coming!

The Vikings landed on a sandy shore and walked over a hill where the house with the smoke was. They went down and knocked on the door but there was no answer so they went in and saw a fire in the middle of the room. They saw a loom. They decided to have a nap so they lay down on the side beds and went to sleep. The Vikings woke up 30 minutes later. They were hungry so they got a pot and put vegetables in it and put it over the fire. It was ready 10 minutes later. They found some bowls and spoons. When they had finished, they told stories. They decided to settle in because it had all they wanted. There was a knock on the door and they hid. The people that came in thought that it was strange because there was food in the pot. One of the Vikings sneezed and owner of the house looked under the rug and there was a Viking. The Vikings told the house owners that they had no were to go so the house owners let them stay and they were really pleased.

Metal Man

It all begins on a normal day when I was sitting in my room while my mum, dad and sisters went out. I got bored so I played my Play-station until I heard a noise coming from the attic so I paused the game I was playing and went up to the attic and opened the door, turned on the light and went down the steps but there was nothing there so I went up to my room and continued with my game. I kept on hearing funny noises. I just ignored them but the noise just got louder and louder. I just could not stick it so I went back up to the attic and opened the door and turned on the light. I was really scared because I saw a robot so I ran to my room and got into my bed and hid under my covers. I heard the footsteps so I started to worry. My door opened and in walked the robot and said "Don't worry I won't hurt you" so I came out from under my covers and I said, "What is your name?" The robot said "My name is Metal Man." I asked him "What are your powers?" The robot replied, "My powers are that my hands are stretchy and I have a tube at the side of me and toffee comes out of it when you press this red button. I also have a pocket with chewing gum in it. I have wheels on the bottom of my feet and fire comes out of my heel so that i can go really fast. i can also fly very fast and chains come out of my hands." Then I asked him, "Where do you come from?" The robot said, "I come from Mars." I heard my mum come in so I told Metal Man to go up to the attic again. My mum, dad and sisters were watching the television so I went to the attic and told Metal Man that we had to go outside. We went outside and saw this really mean dog that lives next door. I told Metal Man to use his toffee power. Metal Man used it and the dog was covered in sticky toffee. Later we decided to go into my tree house. We went up and the floor broke because Metal Man was so heavy. Metal Man grabbed me and used his stretchy arms and grabbed onto a branch and jumped onto the ground and said that he had to go because it was getting dark.

The Friendly Vikings

Vikings are friendly
with big long swords,
sailing through the water like thunder,
Building their houses of dung, twigs and wattle,
and a cess pit for a toliet.
The Vikings had holes in their roofs
so that all the smoke could get out,
And the woman milked the cows and the men made weapons,
Inside their house was smelly,
The lady had a loom to weave with.

The Vikings Village

Vikings are friendly
with big long swords,
sailing through the water like lightning,
And a cess pit for a toilet,
The women milk the cows
and the men fought in battle,
the workers traded their goods,
and their house was made of dung and wattle,
A Viking house was very big and long,
The Vikings came from Norway

The teacher had to discipline the cheeky boy.
I am a collector of teddys.
I was furious when my sister ripped my book.
A boy showed his courage when he played
The gold was dazzling on the ring
My daddy wishes he was a inventor.
He made a deception of robbing the house.
It was a diastrous day.
The book was infomative.
My mum and dad had a good occasion.
The man was guilty in court.

Miserable week

Weather is great when it is hot
I had to hold onto my hat
Never go outside when it is windy
Did you go out in the wind?

Rain came running down the roof tops
All over town
It never stopped raining all day
Never go out in the rain.

The thunder is very frightening!
Here it comes to crash things down
Up in the trees birds are frightened
Nobody comes outside; what
Do you think of that?
Everyone stays inside hiding under their bed
Run away from thunder!

Next i cut a rectangle from that piece of paper and stuck it on the big card to make the theatre. then I started drawing the characters, I coloured them and then i cut them out. After that I slit the bottom of the threatre so the puppets could come up on stage. then I decorated the theatre to brighten it up. After that I stuck the puppets onto ruler with sellotape. Finally I wrote the script and stuck it on the back of the big card.

The Famine in Ireland

In Ireland, long ago, people were very poor and lived in cottages and on land they had rented from a landlord
They grew potatoes in a small field beside their cottage.
The crop failed year after year.
In 1845 the potato crop failed because of blight.
People were starving and famine fever spread throughout the land.
Soup kitchens were set up.
Tenants were evicted from their homes and roamed the land.
People rioted outside workhouses looking for food and shelter.
The Irish people were determined to build a new land in which their children woul never be hungry again.
About one million people died.
One million people emigrated.

Canada

Churchill is a town in Canada. Part of it is in the arctic circle which is very cold. Canada shares a border with the U.S.A. Polar bears live around the coast of Hudson Bay.

There are Polar Bear prisons as well but in the winter there more polar bears in jail than people.
Jamie and Megan

During the 2nd world war children were evacuated to the country side. At the country side they had to be looked after by peple until the end of the war. they built shelters incase the Germans bombed the country. The children went to church and school. The war started in 1939 to 1945. After the war the children came back to the city. Sometimes the children went home and their parents had died.

A Visit to the Vikings

It was 9:00PM at night and it was time for me to go to bed. So I went upstairs, I did my teeth, I climbed into bed my mum said goodnight to me and then I went to sleep. The next morning when I woke up I noticed that I wasn't in my own room but that I was in a sort of hut. Then i realised I was in a Viking house and that I was wearing funny clothes. So I got up. a man came over and gave me some fresh clothes and asked me my name because he had never seen me before. I said Jamie. Then he said that his name was Harry The Horribl and that I could call him Harry. I got dressed and then went outside and saw a lot of people and after about 30 minutes I got to know everyone and then the head of the group told everyone that he was going on a voyage and I was one of the people who were picked to go and I am only 10 years old. So we got packed and put our stuff on the boat and set off on our journey. We travelled for a whole week and eventually we saw land so we beached on the land and went to look for people. We walked down a long path over a big hill and we seen a lot of smoke so we went to investigate. When we were a bit closer we could see that there was a house and a lot of things were set outside it. We all thought that there might be people in it so we went to look inside. When we got to the house we looked in the window we saw some people so we kicked the door open and when they did the people started screaming and then they started to run outside and scream even louder than before. So the rest of the Vikings started to lift out their weapons to starta fight so the people started to get out their weapons and the fight began. There was a lot of blood going everywhere and a lot of people falling to ground and then a man came up to him and then he recognised who it was it was Harry and he was carrying an extra sword so he gave it to me and said to be brave and use it skilfully and to be careful. When a man came up to him he said that I had to lie on the ground but I didn't I just swung my sword and his head fell to the ground and so did his body. Then I heard a loud scream and a woman came running around the corner and so did Harry so I swung my sword and her side slit right open and she fell to the ground. After about 2 hours everyone of the people were dead except a couple of people who we could use for slaves. so we walked around to look for gold or other precious things that they had. I found a 6 gold plates a diamond necklace a clay pot and a silver and gold sword which I kept as a souvenir and then we packed up all our things and put them on the boat. When everything was ready we got on the boat and set off for home. When we got back they had a feast for their victory but they were a bit sad because two of their Vikings had been killed. For their feast they had fish, meat, water and told some stories. Then it was time to go to bed so I got into bed I fell asleep and the next morning I woke up and I was in my own room.

Metal Man.

(The toffee man strikes again.)

One morning Metal Man was eating his breakfast when the phone rang so he got up off his chair and went to answer it. When he got to the phone he picked it up and said hello the person on the other side of the phone said that the Toffee Man was on the run and was spreading toffee everywhere and on everything and said that you Metal Man have to come and fight him and the winner gets to have the city so please come and fight the Toffee Man then we can have the city back. So Metal Man said to the man on the other side of the phone that he would be over right away. So Metal Man put down the phone and went out into the street and whistled for his Mega Mobile because he thought it would be quicker if he went in his Mega Mobile than fly and as soon as he did this his Mega Mobile was right in front of him so he got into it, turned on the engine and went flying through the air at about 140 m.p.h. Everyone that looked up at him knew that it was the incredible Metal Man and when the Toffee Man saw Metal Man with all his weapons he almost fainted. After about five minutes the Toffee Man was on one side of the road and Metal Man was on the other side. The Toffee Man spoke first and said that they were only allowed to use three weapons and that they were allowed to run to places and hide to try and sneak up on each other and try to kill your opponent with your weapons. When they had picked their weapons the Toffee Man blew the whistle and fight began. The Toffee Man used his toffee gun but when he pulled the trigger he noticed that the Metal Man was gone so he turned around and saw the Metal Man running away into a tunnel so the Toffee Man ran after him. When the Metal Man got into the tunnel it was very dark. he could hear the Toffee Man coming closer and closer every minute. There was a problem because he could glow in the dark and that means the Toffee Man would be able to see him in the dark. So he ran on until he could see the clearing so he ran out of the clearing he could hear the Toffee Man so he used his X-ray vision to see through the tunnel. He could see the Toffee Man so he ran back into the tunnel and used his ice gun on the Toffee Man. Then he used his Lazer on the Toffee Man so that he would melt and he did. The next day there was a big party for the Metal Man because the Metal Man had saved the city so they all lived happily ever after.

When we got to the train station we found out that the train had not arrived so we sat on the bench and waited until the train arrived. When we got on the train we all found a seat and the train started to move. When we had to get off the train it was pitch black so Mr Livingston turned on his torch and we walked home in darkness. when we got home we got on our pyjamas and went downstairs and watched Beethoven then we went to bed. Our Trip To Dublin

It was twenty past seven in the morning when I arrived at school . There was only about seven children in the classroom when I arrived . When everyone had arrived it was half past seven so everyone went to the toilet, got their coats and we got on to the bus. At half past nine we arrived at Dundalk and stopped at the Fairways Hotel, went to the toilet and Mr Livingston and Mrs McCartan swapped us all over into two groups. Me and my partner Nicola went with Mrs McCartan. When everyone was put into their groups we got into the bus and off we went. When we got to Dublin's Viking Adventure me and my partner Nicola were very excited. We went into Dublin's Viking Adventure. The woman at the desk said that we were late and she wasn't going to let us in. Eventually after much begging she let us in. A man came and lead us through a door and their was a boat with two rows of benches. Me,my partner and Kathryn sat on the back bench. Then the boat started to move forward then mist started to blow out from the walls and water came flowing over the sides then all the lights went out, just then we heard a voice and a man appeared and he spoke to us for about three minutes then he let us out of the boat and lead us into a room with two Viking house's. The man that lead us into the room spoke to us for a while and then he brought us into a Viking house and a Viking man and woman were in the house. When we went into the house the women asked us if we were Christians and we all said yes. Then she asked us if we were hungry and some of us said no and the rest said yes so she brought a basket of fish which was two weeks old. When they brought the fish round they told us to smell it and it was horrible, they also asked why the teachers were wearing men's clothes because they were wearing trousers. After they had spoken to us they called a man who was a priest to show us round the church. The man lead us up five spiral staircases and then he showed us an archaeological dig he spoke to us about it and then he lead us into a room and we watched a clip about Vikings. After we watched the clip we were allowed to eat our lunch. When we had ate our lunch we had to get back to the bus because it was time to go to the National Museum of Ireland. So we got on the bus and went to the National Museum. When we got there we went into the Museum and Miss Steele let us go to the toilet so after we went to the toilet our tour guide took us round the Museum. She took us to see the body of the dead Viking she also took us to see the leather shoes, the bag,the gold cross ,the games they played and the swords they had. After she showed us all that she let us see the room of Egyptians and we seen a dead Egyptian in it's coffin. When we had finished looking at the stuff we to the toilet again and then we went to the shop to buy our things I bought a notebook and pen,a key ring and a purse. Then we had to go home so we went outside to get on the bus and we found that the bus driver had got lost .Ten minutes later the bus driver arrived and we got on the bus and left for Dundalk when we got there it had already turned dark. We got swapped over and we left for home. By the time we were home it was 6:50 pm.

A Viking Village

Vikings made their houses with twigs and dung
with a cess- pit for their toilet.
A viking house had only one room which was very big
And in the middle of the room was a fire.
Their was also a wall around the village to keep out all the robbers.
The viking village was near the coast so they can trade their goods;?
Vikings had jobs like craftsmen, blacksmiths and merchants,
And gods like Odin and Thor.

An Alliteration Poem

One winters week
Two terrible teachers
Three tall trees
Four flickering fingers Five fish flicker frantically
Six smelly socks Seven sulky slugs
Eight eager eagles
Nine nasty newts
Ten train tickets
All went home for bed.

Evacuation

Evacuation started in 1939. Gas Masks were invented andy worn in world war two but luckly there was no need for them because Hitler did not use gas bombs. World war two began when Hitler invaded Poland. Chamberlain went into 10 Downing Street and declared that Britain was at war with Germany. Children were evacuated incase they were killed. The only two things they could bring were one suitcase and a carrier bag. They had a gas mask and identity card aroundtheir necks. Some children were evacuated to America or Canada. Most were just sent to the country. some stayed in the cities with their parents.

The Treacleman

Suddenly the bank alarm went off. Candyman had robbed the bank. The Bank manager phoned the police station but Treacleman was already at the crime. He questioned everyone who was in the bank and then he flew off to Candyman's home and covered him in treacle and waited for it to dry and once it was dry Treacleman lifted him into the Police Station and the Police put him into the prison cell.

Then we went to The Vikings Banqueting hall to watch a video and eat our lunch then we went back out were we started then got on the bus again.

And half of them worriors
And some were slaves

Some were Silversmiths
And there was a big wooden wall round the town
To protect them all
And then there were merchants
And the wives
Then the childeren who play

I remember my first day,
I couldn't wait for the fun.
I had my schoolbag and my pencils,
My sandwiches and my bun.

We wrote and drew pictures,
Each and every day.
At lunch and breaktime,
We went out to play.

As the work grew harder,
My skills expanded too.
Multipilication, Division,
I learned how to do.

In P.6. I did some thIngs,
I thought I could never do.
Fractions and decimals,
But my teacher helped me through.

Then finally In P.7
Came the TRANSFER TEST!
I was accepted by my new school,
Along with all the rest.

And now In my final year,
Of my Prlmary school.
I remember the good times & the bad,
I hope you do too.

First I painted the large sheet of card blue and yellow to represent the sand and sea and then took the A3 sheet of paper and drew red & white stripes. Next I cut out a rectangle from the striped paper. I then stuck the red & white theatre to the background. Then I drew the charcaters & cut them out. I also coloured them in. I attached the charcats to rulers. I then made a slit in the stage where the charcters appear. I added some decorations, wrote a script & started the show.

The Famine

Many, many years ago in Ireland life was tough. People rented their homes from rich English landlords. Their homes were only small cottages with a small field beside it where they gre their potatoes. To earn money they looked after the landlord's large crop of corn and wheat. If they were caught stealing even an ear of corn they would probably be evicted from their homes.
Irish people relied on their potatoes, which is why when all the potatoes in the land caught blight everyone starved. Nowadays if we ran out of potatoes it wouldn't matter but imagine if potatoes were all we had. Life would be very tough indeed. that is how tough it was for the Irish 156 years ago.
The famine started in 1845. just because the potatoes had blight one year doesn't mean everything would be alright next year. Because of there being no potatoes one year meant the people of Ireland had to save last years supplies to plant in 1846 instead of 1845 but, they had to save some to eat in 1845! That proves how little food they had.
Men had to try and find work at the roadworks. If you worked the roadworks you had to dig up and remove heavy boulder. It was back-breaking work and you were paid very little.
The landlords didn't care about a place with no food so they moved back to England. They paid me to collect the rent. If they couldn't pay the rent they evicted from their homes and sent to the workhouse. People hated the workhouses. People rioted outside and others said they could hear the screams of the people inside when they passed by. When some people were sent to the workhouse they ran away.
As so many people walked the roads some people decided to open up soup kitchen. If you were lucky enough to know where one was you could go and get some soup for free! Soup kitchen were great but sometimes people took children away to workhouses or to wealthy people who had no children of their own.
As well as soup kitchens there was another service. This service wandered the roads if you saw this service you would stay well away. It was a service that if anyone died while wandering the roads they would lift you up onto a horse and cart and carried you away.
The two main way that people died during the famine. The obvious one is starvation. The other was every bit as dreadful. It was the famine fever. The fever had no cure. You would have it for a few months and then you would die. The fever was also very cantagious so most people stayed well away from people who had the fever.
The famine was a terrible time in Irish history.
Over a million died.
Over a million emigrated to America or Australia.
The population of Ireland has never been as large as it was before the famine even to this day.

Australia

Australia is in the continent of Australasia. It is a big country. Australia used to be inhabited by Aborigines. Aborigines were pushed into the middle of Australia by the white people. The middle of Australia is called the 'bush' or the 'outback'. In the Bush, it's hard to find food for the people. The fog that they eat is called 'bush tucker'. Bush tucker is things like lizards and honey ants. Sometimes the Aborigines hunt kangaroos. The cities of Australia such as Sydney and Canberra are located around the coast.

Evacuation
Evacuation started on the 1st of Spetember,1939. Children from cities such as Belfast were evacuated to country areas. These included Larne, Newry and Portaferry. The evacuees had to take their gas masks and name-tags. The evacuees were only allowed one suitcase each. People were not just evacuated to country areas, but also to other countries, such as America and Canada. A lot of people did not want to be evacuated and were not happy at their new home, but even so, quite a lot of people did like their evacuation homes. The evacuees missed their famalies and their own homes. Most of the evacuees stayed at their evacuationhomes for all of the war, but some people went back to their own homes.

CandyGirl

(The start of the sweetness.)

Once there was a woman who worked in a chocolate factory. her name was Susan smilie. Susan was assistant manager at Wellworts Chocolate & Candy Factory. She in Belfast in the year 2021. She was a multi-zillionaire (That's the same as a multi-millionaire in our time), lives in Smilie Manor and has a butler called Alfred.
Susan was working normally when all of a sudden the alarm went off telling everyone that there was a leak somewhere. As Susans Manager was on holiday in the Canairy Islands she had to make sure that everyone was out of the building and then she had to find the leak and get someone out to repair it. when all 275 workers were out of the building she made her way to the machines. She was walking down the corridor when all of a sudden a tidal wave of honey, caramel, licorice and jelly made fell on top of her, She was knocked unconscious! An hour or so later she woke up on her bed bathed and in her dressing gown. Alfred was passing up and down the room then he glanced at Susan. "Ah! young Susan I see your awake. I was ver so worried," fussed Alfred. "I got your friend to wash you". "Yeah well I'm okay now. Could you get me a cup of tea please, Alfred," asked Susan. "Yes, and oh there's something I need to tell you," answered Alfred. He went downstairs and came up again with two cups of tea and a packet of biscuits. he set one cup of tea and the biscuits on Susans bedside table. He started to sip the tea he had. "I took your D.N.A. sample and there was something quite peculiar," said Alfred worringly, "so I am going to run some tests just to be on the safe side." "But what about work?"questioned Susan. "Your boss (Mr. Wellworts) got the quickest flight back from the Canairy Islands as soon as heard the news and he let you have the rest of the month off while the machines are being repaired" said Alfred. The next day ALfred snuck into her room with a pair of cymbals at seven in the morning and - Smash! Alfred had struck the cymbals together. Susan was floating in the air. "Aha! I guess I was correct. you see my guess was that you had supernatural powers," said Alfred as giddy as a schoolgirl. "Cool!" said Susan. "Well that proves that you can fly but what else you can do I don't know," said Alfred. "So thats what the tests are for," asked Susan. "Yes" answered Alfred. "Now concentrate hard on that wall and if lazers come out from your eyes you have Lazer vision, if you can see through the wall you have X-ray vision if nothing then no eye power is yours," said Alfred. So Susan looked at the wall and found that she had X-ray vision. They done some more tests and found that the only powers wre superstrength. Next they had to think of a name for Susan. alfred suggested CandyGirl as she got her powers from Candy. Alfred made a red, green and balck suit, a yellow hat and a red cape. Every time there was a crime she was on the case. The town mayor made a candy sign like Batman's. One night the candy symbol was in the night sky so CandyGirl rushed down to the Candy Cave leaped into the Sweet Mobile and went speeding down the road to the Mayors office. "What is it this time?" asked CandyGirl. "The Disco Dudes are at it again," said the Mayor. "I'm on it," said CandyGirl leaping into the Sweet Mobile. She sped down the road till she reached where the Disco Dudes were. She flew in and saw them. "The party'd over boys! said CandyGirl. She pulled out her licorice whip, Lasoosed them together, flew up out of the roof and threw them through the prison roof. So thats how the sweetness started.

Trip To Dublin

It is a quarter to seven on a cold Thursday morning and I'm getting ready to go to school. The reason for this is we're going to Dublin. We are visiting Dublin's Viking Adventure and The National Museum Of Ireland with our E.M.U. partners St. Teresa's P.S.
When I got to school we went on to the bus. We travelled for about two hours and reached Dundalk. We stopped at Fairways Hotel to go to the toilet and for some of us to swap onto another bus. I switched on to another bus and was now travelling with my E.M.U. partner Conner Wilkinson. My partner and I travelled for about an hour and eventually reached Dublin's Viking Adventure. When we reached Dublin's Viking Adventure. We were late and nearly weren't allowed in. We finally got in and walked into a room with a wooden Viking ship. We all sat down and a movie started. It was telling us that we would be going back to the time of the Vikings. When the movie stopped the screen it was playing on lifted up and the boat moved forward and a Viking appeared at the front of the boat. The boat stopped and the man told us that he was the captain of the ship and then the boat started to move again. This time wind was blowing into our faces, water was coming down and there was fake thunder and lightning. The captain was praying to Viking Gods such as Frey, Odin and Thor. When The storm stopped we got out of the boat and walked to the captain's house. The captain asked us if we were Celts as the Celts burnt down his house. He asked us to help him to re-build his house. He told us what sticks we would need to build the wattle and that would need to get cow dung to put between the gaps in the wattle. He also asked us if we wanted to use the cess pit (toilet). We went to another house and the captain left us. In the house there was a man and a woman. They asked us if we liked fish and brought us round some that smelled worse than dogs-droppings. Then they showed us a horn an we blew through it . Saul was the best but think it is because he plays the trumpet. They also showed us the loom and asked us why Miss Steele and Mrs McCartan were wearing women's clothing. We then went to an archeolgy part and then had our lunch. Once we had our lunch we then walked through a very short museum. Once we walked through the museum we got on the bus and headed for the National Museum of Ireland.
When we got to the National Museum we used their cess pits then we waited for the tour guide. When the tour guide came we went upstairs to the Viking room. We first of all saw a wooden cross covered in gold. We also saw some game pieces , brooches , toy boats and a Viking skeleton! We went to some Viking dummies dressed up.On the way home we watched a movie. When I got Home I was very, very tired, after all I did go back in time to meet the Vikings.

Vikings!

The friendly Vikings worked all day,
The friendly Vikings worshipped Frey.
The lived by the Liffey in Dublin town,
They'd laughed and sing and barely frown.
They'd tell sagas and play with toy boats,
They'd keep animals like pigs, cows and goats.
They came from Sweeden, Denmark and Norway,
They had to travel an awful long way.
They had a fire in the middle of the room,
The blacksmiths made swords of doom.
They through their waste in their cess pits.
They did not have many wits.
They'd have lots of skilled craftsmen,
They'd cook the old hen.

The Vikings Are Coming To Our Town

One day the Vikings were travelling across the sea when they saw smoke coming from one of the houses and they were hungry so they thought they would get somethig to eat if they called. They went to the place where they parked their boat they got out of the boat and went over to the house that they seen the smoke coming from. When they were on their way over everyone was looking out their window and they seen the Vikings coming and were all shouting lock the door because the thought that they were going to attack them. Then they came over and knocked on the door tha the smoke was coming from. The owner of the house said,"What do you bad people want."Then the Vikings said we are hungry and we want something to eat because we seen the smoke coming from the chimney and we thought that your food would taste very nice. Your may come in and have something to eat explained the owner and the Vikings came in and wished that they could make their house be as nice as the house they are in right now. And they could plunder like parities for crystals to decorate their house just like the way this house they were in was decorated and so they did they plunder the seas for crystals.

Canada

Canada is in North America. Canada shares a border with U.S.A. A part of Canada is in the Arctic circle that means some of Canada is very cold in the winter. Most of the rain there falls as snow. There is a city called Churchill. Churchill is on the shores of Hudson Bay. In winter if it is very cold Hudson Bay and the Churchill River will reeze over. Polar Bears live there to. There are more Polar Bears in jail than people in Canada. The children in Canada can go out to play in the snow. That is because they have special clothes.

With a wooden loom.

They use the bed to sit on,
The men were really hairy;
They walked about like bears,
People say they were scary.

They have lots of animals,
Even a goat,
They go away trading,
On a long boat.

If you want to see this happen,
You just have to go,

The Famine

In Ireland, long ago, people were very poor and lived in cottages and on land that they had rented from a landlord.
They grew potatoes in a small field beside their cottages.
In 1815 the potato crop failed because of blight.
The crop failed year after year.
Tenants were evicted from their homes and roamed the land.
People rioted outside workhouses looking for food and shelter.
People were starving and famine fever spread throughout the land.
Soup kitchens were set up.
One milion people emigrated.
About a million people died.
The Irish people were determined to build a new land in which their children would never be hungry again.

Philip and Simon

The Day the Vikings Came to Town

One day in 739 A.D, the Vikings were on their ship sailing the seas. After six days on the ocean, they discovered the land which is now the east coast of England. The Vikings on the ship saw a house and smoke coming from the roof. They sailed over to it. When they got to the beach, they parked their boat on the shore. They jumped off their boat with their weapons and ran off up the beach until they got to the grassland where the house was. When they were outside its walls, they tried to be very quiet so that if anyone was in the house, they would not hear them. When they got round to the front door, they threw their massive big boots into the air and kicked the door down. the people who were in the house yelled. Some Vikings took the items they liked but thre the stuff they didn't like down and broke it. The Vikings that weren't raiding drew their swords through the peoples bodies. Everyone in the house was killed. The Vikings left. They spotted a small town, so they headed down to where the town was. When they had reachd the town, they ran through it, roaring like lions. the people in the town ran about panicking. They slashed people with their swords and set houses on fire with fiery sticks. They looted the houses of all their valuables. the Vikings caused chaos for about an hour. after they had finished their raiding, they had set the whole town on fire and killed three quarters of the population. On their way back, the Viking called Bjarney spotted people who survived their raid who were trying to get away. he showed the other Vikings. They had no intention of doing any more destruction, but they did have the intention to kill. They chased after them. The victims could not run as fast because of wounds, so the Vikings catched up with them. This time, they killed everyone. So about a day later, they decided to head back to Scandinavia.

Invisible Vic

In the city of New York, there is a man called Victor Nesbitt. To other people, Vic is just an ordinary townsperson. But they don't know Vic is a super hero. One Thursday morning, Vic was having his breakfast while listening to the local radio station. The man on the radio news said that the local bank had been robbed. When Vic heard this, he scoffed what was left of his super hero breakfast, put on his super hero outfit, and flew out the window! He was flying over town. He had a switch at the back of his outfit. He flicked it. (He had to flick it because that is the switch that turns him invisible, and if he didn't, people would see him.) He went down to the bank. There were about fifty people there, but none of them could see him because he had made himself invisible. (That's one of his powers that helps him to catch crooks.) He went in, but still, no policemen or towns persons could see him, so he was the only one apart from the police who got in. He looked around. There was glass, and some spare change lying around the floor. Vic picked up the change. He put his scanning glasses down over his eyes. There were fingerprints all over the coin. He flew out the broken window with the coin. He flew over the town, trying to find someone who was running away from the bank, and someone who probably had a sack over their back. He found three men down at the docks. Still invisible, he flew down to were the men were. He tuned in to their conversation. They were talking about how they would split the money. "Aha!" said Vic, "the robbers!" Suddenly, Vic turned visible. The men froze. The men slung their sacks of money over their shoulders and ran. Vic sped after them. There was an open man-hole leading to the sours. The robbers went down it. Vic didn't need to down the man-hole. Instead, he melted into the ground. And when he had soaked down into the ground, he ended up right in front of the robbers. The robbers ran the other way. But instead of running after them, Vic shot out a sticky rope made out of spiders web. It covered them. They were spun round and round until their bodies were covered in a thick silk. the only part of their bodies you could see were their mouths, noses and eyes. Being in the sewers, there were lots of spiders, and with them bend in the American sours, there were very big spiders. "ARRRRGHHH!" squealed the robbers. Just before the spiders started to crawl on them, Vic lifted them up and flew them over to the police station. When they got over to the police station, Vic brought them to reception. "I've caught your robbers, sergeant," said Vic. "Thank you very much!" said the sergeant happily. Later on when the judge had found them guilty, he brought them outside in front of all the townspeople. The robbers looked worried because the townspeople had fruit in their hand! Then when everyone had settled down, the judge gave Vic a $1000 reward. Then Vic ran down into the crowd with a bag of fruit. Then the judge, and everyone else who was on the stage, hopped down. Then the judge gave the order, "THROW" Everyone started throwing their fruit at the robbers. Then after all that, the robbers were sent to prison and Invisible Vic went home, put on his normal clothes, flicked on the TV., put the money in his safe, and had his tea.

Our Residential To Cultra

On the 8th of March to the 10th of March 2000, my class went on a residential to Cultra with St. Teresas.
I was one of the first there, so Mr. Livingston put me on duty to tell people not to put their bags in the classroom. At 9:00, the rest of my class came in. I was waiting at my seat in the room. We watched a science video from about 9:10 until 9:55. We went to the toilet, lifted our stuff, and got onto the bus. I was sitting beside Saul. When we got there, we were waiting for a few minutes so that St. Teresa's could get into the residential center. When we got there, we went into the girls common room. Mr. Livingston and Mrs. McCarten were sorting out the dorms that all of us would be in. I was in dorm 2. After we went back down to the common room. I was in Mr. Glover's Group. We went to a house in the village. We baked bread. We got to taste some of the other groups bread. It was lovely. The lady that was in the house told us all about the house. We went upstairs. We looked at the beds. The design on the end of the bed looked quite modern. I pointed that out to the lady. She said that the Victorians actually designed these designs, and that us modern people copied them. While the lady was talking about the things in the kitchen, Mr. Livingston popped in and took a photo of us all. After that we went back to the residential center. We had our tea. Then about half an hour later we went to Bangor swimming pool. Kathryn jumped off the diving board. I swam up and down the pool. I didn't get a lot done because people out of my class were mucking about. In the end, I went into the small children's pool because of two things. One-the big pool was 22celcius and two- the pull was full with bodies. When we got home, we put on our indoor shoes, ran up to the boys common room and took our supper while watching A Bug's Life. Then we got ready for bed, talked a while, and went to sleep. And that is the end of day one.
DAY TWO-
The next day, I was the first one with me being up at 7:05, I got a good 20 minutes peace to get ready. I got dressed in peace too. Then at about 7:25, Mr. Livingston came and said "Rise and shine everybody!" The light was off which was good because I only had my t-shirt on! Then he went out. I was up at the common room 1st because I was the only one that was ready. Then at about 8:25, we went over for breakfast. I had Rice Krispies. Later on after breakfast, we went to the girls common room. Kathryn was sick, so she had to go home. Then my group went to the graveyard. We made patchwork quilts. Then after that, we watched a video of children in the 70's playing old fashioned games. Then we went out and played some of them. First I played with a skittle and horse shoes in a game were you need to knock the skittle over as many times as you can with three horse-shoes. I went to the shop. Then I went over to the people who were skipping and I skipped for a while. Then a band called Jig time came and played Irish and Scottish jigs and reels. After that I played my tinwhistle for the boys. Then we had our tea. Then we did a quiz of mystery objects. Then we did a barn dance. Then we went up to our own common rooms, had our supper and watched Beethoven. Then when we were going to bed, Michael was asleep on the chair! Then we got to bed and went to sleep. End of day two
DAY THREE-
I was the first one up again this morning. Mr. Livingston didn't come in this morning. At breakfast, I just had Rice Krispies and orange juice. Then we went out again. We went to the transport museum and the flight experience. We went along with Mrs. Martins group. I got stuff in the shop. Then when we got back, we had our lunch. We tidied up, packed the rest of our stuff, said goodbye, and went back to school.

What is music?

A noise of trumpets, violins and chimes,
Or clarinets, drums or a song that rhymes.

Our Trip to Dublin.

On the 3rd of February, 2000, my class went to Dublin. I had to get up at 6:30 am! I was in school at 7:25 am. Before we went, we had to all go the toilet. The corridors were quite dark and we had to be careful we didn't hit our arms off the coat pegs! We left at 7:30 am. I was very tired and I also felt a bit sick., But I was OK. I was sitting beside Saul but I hardly got to talk to him because he was asleep half the time! We passed a lot of towns. The main town we passed was Newry. It was the last main town before the border. When we saw the road signs change we cheered because we new we were in Eire. By the time we had crossed the border, it was daylight. It was about 8:35 am. At about 9:30 am we were in Dun Dealghean, or Dundalk. Michaela was sick. When we were in Dundalk, I was excited because I knew it was The Corrs birthplace. I was like, "The Corrs come from here! How great!!!" When we got to the Fairways Hotel, I met my partner. He is called Terry Gorman. We swapped buses. I was on Mr. Livingston and Mrs. Lynas' bus. I slept the whole way through 101 Dalmatians! We went to the Ard-Mhusaem Na hEireann first or the National Museum of Ireland. Firstly, our tour guide showed us a boat. It had a horse-hair sail, the body was made out of pine and oak wood and he said it was used for fishing. Then we went into a room which had two model figures of a Viking man and woman. He told us that Viking helmets had no nose piece and that the nose piece was introduced by the Normans at a later stage. He also told us that the horns on the helmets were influenced by cartoons and 1920's and 1930's Viking films. And he also said that the weight of the swords in bags of sugar was 8, the chain mail was also 8 and the helmet was 2. Then he said that the chain mail was nailed down to the dummies armpits so that no-one would steal it. He then said that a real Viking spear was about 7 feet tall! We then all got to hold the sword. It was quite heavy. When our tour guide picked up the Viking axe, the head dropped off so that no-one would hurt themselves. He also showed us a shield. He told us that the Vikings used combs not to make themselves nice but because they had head-lice. We went out into the hall with all the Viking treasures. First we saw a skeleton in a glass cabinet. There was a cabinet with a golden wooden cross in it. We went to another glass cabinet and saw some Viking toy boats. There was another glass cabinet with some swords. We saw game pieces and jewellery like brooches and earrings. I saw a quern stone and a big wooden tray. We saw a leather bag which is thought to have been stolen from a monastery because of a cross on the bag. We saw some Viking scales and keys. And at the back of the room was the Dunmore Cave hoard. At the shop, I saw mini 4 inch bodhrans. I didn't buy anything in the museum shop because you couldn't buy anything decent for 1punt 20! Mr. Livingston quickly popped round to Enfo and got some stuff. He wouldn't have been there but he needed to go to the bank! We then went on the bus and had our lunch. Then we went to Dublin's Viking Adventure, on Essex Street West. When we got to Dublin's Viking Adventure, we went to the shop first. I bought a mini Viking statue and a black Viking pencil. Then Mr. Livingston showed us a man who we had to follow. We followed him down some stairs and got on a metal boat. We watched a video and then we started to move! We saw a man who was meant to be on the starboard of a boat. I was in the front row. The boat joined on to his part. Water came up from the side. After the boat ride we went into a village area. The man who was on the boat talked to us. He said he needed us to help him build a new house so he asked Natasha if she would buy a cow and a bucket and follow the cow around all day for the dung! He said we also said we needed wattle and daub.We then went into a house. There was another lady in it. She asked if we were Christians. I said I was. They offered us fish. All of us except Andrew Dawson said no. They passed a horn around. Natasha, Dean and Caleb could make a decant noise but all I could do was blow! They asked the St. Teresa's teacher why she was wearing men's clothing (He said that because she was wearing trousers!) The Viking lady talked about the clay weights on the looms and the wooden sword that separated the cloth. The Viking man asked Miss Steele if she would marry his 15 year old son but Miss Steele said she was a bit too old for a 15 year old boy! Another man came into the house and brought us on an archaeological dig. There was a painting of Dublin and under the painting there were different layers of mud. And in the different layers was a skeleton, a rifle and a broken violin. After, we looked at the carving on a ship. We then went along a walkway. Mr. Livingston pointed out a new building where archaeologists found some Viking artifacts. We went along the Wood Quay Walk. There were different flagstones of different things the Vikings used that archaeologists found. Then there was a stone layout of a Viking house to show people how big the houses were. After the walk, we got on the bus. As we were leaving for Dundalk, we went along the Liffey. It was raining. We went along the nice peaceful country roads. When we got to Dundalk, all of us went into the Fairways Hotel to go to the toilet. The other bus was 25 minutes late because it got stuck in a traffic jam in Drochied Atha or Drogheda. When they got back, they went to the toilet and after that, my bus went away. I sat beside Michaela on the way home. Mr. Livingston gave out the stuff that he got from Enfo. We were home at 6:50 pm and then my mum collected me and brought me off to my fiddle class.

A Viking Village

The Vikings are friendly
The Vikings came from
Norway, Sweden, Denmark
Life in a Viking Village would
have been hard because they
would have had to go down
to the river to wash
their hair and then
come back to the
village and then
go into the house
after washing
the hair.

AN ODE TO ELMGROVE.

Our wee school is Elmgrove
The greatest of them all
Its teachers are by far the best
The pupils worst of all.

Our headmaster is a cool guy
School dinners they are rough
You know that when we eat them
They get us off our work.

Mrs Chambers - what a lady
Mrs Beattie she is too
Mr Livingston a master teacher
Miss Steel, she has the flu.

I suppose we're like the Bash Street Klds
Full of fun and mischief too
But our teacher wouldn't swap us
Of that you can be sure.

Misss BIack is now going
I think she's had enough
Mrs Martin had a baby
Oh what wonderful stuff.

Mr Gray takes Scripture Union
He takes the football too
He aIso takes us swimming
And scares us all too.

The orchesstra are playing
The choir is out of tune
We aIl sit here with straight faces
But it is really gloom.

Our ears they suffer greatly
With at! this terrible din
And then before you know it
You've started to join in.

I'll end my littIe ode now
I think I've said enounh
But that's thanks to all our teachers
Our head, our friends and us.

Canada

Churchill is a town in Canada. Part of it is in the arctic circle which is very cold. Canada shares a border with the U.S.A. Polar bears live around the coast of Hudson Bay.
TThe children that live there have to wrap up warm because the temperature can reach - 40 degrees C.
There are Polar Bear prisons as well but in the winter there more polar bears in jail than people.

For my dinner i ate 3 slices of chicken, with potatoes, peas, carrots, sprouts, broccoli and gravy. (she's pretty well off!)
All day long I've been helping her load all of her vegetables which she grows in her allotment. Oh! Byt he way her name is Emma and I think you would like herI am enjoying it here but I am missing you just the same.

Rust Rush Strikes Again!

Shane Sumen was no ordinary person actually he was a super hro. He lives in a very large mansion, inside is very beautiful and he has lots of servant. When he turns into METAL MAN {that is what his super hero name is} he has special powers which you will find out about later now lets strat the story.
Last Thursday I was walking home from Tesco Shopping Centre when all of a sudden an old lady ran out in front of me screaming "Help, help the bank is being robbed!" So I said thankyou and dropped my shopping and started to run towards the bank when I got there all of the police had surrounded the entire building I took off my mask and started to fly towards the bank I caught him by the scruff of the nech he dropped all the money that he had stolen. At once I knew who it was it was Rust Rush the worst super villain ever. I had a serious fight with him. I blinded him with my lazer then took him to the police station where they gave him a cell all to himself. I went and got changed, then went home for tea.

Our Residential With St. Teresa's

On Wednesday 8th of March 2000 our class went to the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum for a residential holiday. On the way there I sat beside Kathryn Hillis. We were told where the fire exit was and were shown to our rooms . The person who owned the museum was called Madeline. She has two cats, one of them is called Jamima and the other is called Shilo. It was a very nice residential site. We done a couple of trails around the museum . After that we went to Bangor Swimming Pool I couldn't go to it because I had a veruca. After that we went back to the hotel and watched Beethoven then went to bed. The next morning we done another trail then made candles but when I got home mine broke in half. We then went for a walk and then the rain came on and we got soaked. Then we played some old playground games and later on we went Barn Dancing. I think it was the best of all the things! We danced to an awful lot of music and I joined in with every dance. Then we got back we watched A BUGS LIFE and Jenna fell asleep half way through it . when it was over it was about 12 o'clock so we all went to bed for a good nights sleep when I woke up I was hanging half out of my bed. After breakfast it my dorm that had to tidy up. When we finished we went to the Air Experience were we learned about aeroplanes and saw a short video about when the first aeroplane was invented the we went around the museum and saw cars and buses. Then we went back to the museum had our lunch ,packed our bags and went back to school to be picked up and go home.

Canada

Canada is in the continent of North America. The Arctic Circle runs through the north of Canada. The rain turns into snow because of the incredibly low temperatures.
The town we learned about in class was called Churchill. Churchill is on Hudson Bay. During the winter when the tmeperatures are as low -40 degrees celcius the polar bears come down to the town for food.
The polar bears sometimes get out of control and they have to be taken to a special polar prison. At time there are more polar bears in jail than there would be criminals.
Michael Dean and Jonathan

Evacuation
Evacuation occurred during the Second World War. the actual date that evacuation started was the first of September 1939 when Neville Chamberlain said to Adolf Hitler the ruler of Nazi Germany that if the Germans invaded Poland Britain would be at war with Germany.
Hitler invaded Poland so all the children and some parents with kids under 5 would be taken (evacuated) to the less dangerous places in Britain or even children could be moved to other countries such as America, Canada and Wales. Some children's parents wanted their children to stay at home because maybe the parents had nobody else to keep them company.
After the war some of the childrens parents were bombed so they had to stay with the people that they were staying with during the war.

The Vikings Arrive

We were off he ship and we were starving and are clothes stunk of fish and sea water from the awful storm we had when crossing the North Sea it really was awful with all them storms. When everyone was off the ship we decided to look round for food just when we started Juhnberg the Tall said there was a house with smoke coming out of its roof so I the chief said we should go and raid it so that is what we went to do and we would steel all their food then we would travel on to raid the rest of England while some of the others would go back to get more of us Danish Vikings so it would be easier for us to raid and win all are battles against the Anglo-Saxons. We got closer to the house it was mine and Herd the Homeless's job to take the horses so we could get away on them because there was enough horses for us all. Just as I was thinking of getting away and ruling England forever our chief said we are not raiding this place because there are Saxons here that want us to stay I asked the chief if they were warriors he said there were very famous warriors who protected there King Conuct very well at first I thought this was a bad idea but then I realised that our chief always had something up his sleeve because Heining the Hairy asked if we were staying over, and the answer was yes. That meant that night we would send some of our warriors back to bring more of the men so we could go and join all the rest of the Vikings only we will raid a whole lot more then move on to Scotland with the Norwegians, and the bits they haven't took over we will take over. The chief told us the plan it was the same as I thought only without the Scotland and raiding the rest of England. I went into the house and saw it was very smelly and there was no seats in the place you had to sit on the floor there was nowhere to sleep the walls were all crumbling the only thing good about the place was that it had a fire but the fire was going out. Even though the place was dull the people were not because they gave us all the food they had in there crummy little house with walls that were about to cave in. The chief had sent some of the men over to Denmark so we could get even more men to battle against all the Saxon's that we meet. That night we were talking to the Saxon's there names were John and Edward there other brothers name was James, Edward was the oldest out of the three brothers and he knew were the kings secret hiding place was for when the Vikings came and what Edward did not know was he just gave the chief another plan which was when everyone was here we would torture them until they told us were the king is hiding and with that information we could keep the king hostage until he hands England over to are Danish King Ivor . It was morning and the warriors that we sent back were back with one hundred more people and one of the other chiefs said there is another three boats coming with the king on one of them. The chief asked how many people are on each ship and the answer was two hundred on the kings ship and one hundred on the other two ships. Fifteen minutes later the other two ships arrived and they were beached on the shore all the Vikings got out of it and went over to the chief one of them greeted the king to England the went over to our chief and said he had done a fine job and that he would like him to rule his army. After all the meeting and greeting we went up to the house and we captured the boys then they told us were the king was hiding and when we got to the king he was killed and England was ruled by the Vikings for a long time.

SHINOK DEFEATS PROFESSOR JAX

Shinok was looking through the window of his arch enemy Professor Jax with his X-ray eyes, and he sees Professor Jax was making a twenty foot rocket with the rest of his troops helping him . Professor Jax thought these troops could kill Shinok but when they were beaten Jax would torture every one of them . Professor Jax was trying also how to beat Shinok's special hand. Now Jax was placing a timer to the rocket so that when it reaches space the rocket will blow up and every bit of goodness will die and evil will be the only thing left on the planet . This was bad so Shinok had to stop this so he transformed both his arm into sledge hammers so he could break down the wall so he could get in to stop him from destroying the Earth. Jax heard Shinok come in but Shinok transformed into a chair so Jax wouldn't see him and when Jax left the room Shinok changed back to normal went into the room with the rocket in it. Shinok transformed his hand into a gun and shot everyone in the room including Professor Jax . He destroyed everything in the room and the world was saved again.

Our Trip to the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum

It all started in the girls common room when Madeline was telling us all the rules about what we can and what we can't do I listened very well otherwise I wouldn't of had a clue what to do and I would of done everything wrong. After Madeline telling us all the rules we went to are dorms I was in a dorm with Shane , James , Tony, Conner , Paul , Simon and Phillip. Are dorm number was number two it was right beside Deans dorm number three. That night after dinner we went to the swimmers on the train I sat beside Jonathan and Dean I thought it was cool. Saul sat opposite beside a man who was reading the paper we were asking the man questions like were do you work? were are you from?how are you? and for every question the man answered very politely normally grown ups don't answer back to us great kids. The train had stopped we got off and walked to the main road were we all crossed over and were we went into a B road we also had to cross over. Tony the girl ran across the road to the other side without even being told I thought it was very foolish because she could of got ran over by a car for all we know. We were now inside the swimmers were Mr. Livingston paid all sixty two of us in or else he had booked it for that day.We were all changed and ready to go into the pool. The pool was freezing so I went into the learner pool it wasn't half as bad. About half an hour had past and Kathryn went on the diving board but she only did a dive no summersaults or nothing. It was time to go home to the dormatorys. When we were back at the train station we had to wait for about half an hour because the train was late but adventually it came and we went home. We were back at the museum were we went into the our dormitory to watch the end of the Rangers and Celtic match we timed it nicely because Rod Wallace scored just as we turned the TV we all thought it was a super goal but St. Treasas were disappointed at Celtic for the stupid mistake the Celtic keeper made. After the match we put on A Bugs Life it has class A graphics because it looks real life action that happens in it and the way they have all the inventions that Flick makes like his telescope. The film was over so everyone went to their room to go to sleep by the time everyone was sleeping it was round about half past two am. In the morning James started to wake us all up he was shouting time to get up and get up get up so I got up got washed and went over to get breakfast. I sat at my normal table with all my friends and my partner called Antony but gets called Tony for short. After eating we went on a trail I was in Mr. Glovers group it was the best of all the groups so we set off on our travels first we had to go to the weavers house then to the church then before to long we were back in the common room with the rest of the groups then Madeline said we had to be back by a curtain time so we went out and to do the trail I thought it was fun to get out and about to get some fresh air so we could keep healthy. After the trail we got to go to the girls common room were we all had a big contest to see who was the best at connect 4 Jonathan won all his matches except for one and that was when Marc beat him in a title match for and became the title holder. It was time for lunch we had Burgers and chips they were the best I ever tasted they were even better than McDonalds food. Lunch was over and it was girls dormitory number four I think because we did it the first time we had lunch. The girls had tiedied up so it was time to do something else and that something was to play street games like going on stilts, playing chasies and so on. After the games a group of people called Jigtime and in that band there was the best drummer in the world his name was Bobby and he was brilliant you should've been there to here him. After Jigtime we went down to get our dinner we had a baked potato with beans if you wanted them you also could of got coleslaw or cheese with it. Everyone got to go back to their dorms but had to come back to the girls for a quiz it was one of the ones were you had to guess the object are group came joint second with Mr. Livingston's group and some of the questions took us a long time to figure out and others took us two seconds to figure out well not exactly two seconds but a bit longer. The quiz was over and a man was here to do barn dancing we did the barn dancing which was cool then we went over to watch Beethoven but I missed half of it because I fell asleep and Phillip had to wake me up and I didn't know so I tried to hit him not knowing. It was morning and I had to get up and get washed so that is what I did then I went over and got my breakfast I had All Bran. It was time to put our stuff in the big hall so we could go and get it when we needed it to go home. We went on one last trail before we had to go home. Now it was time to go so we went and I would like to go home.

Dublin

Our trip to Dublin started when we all had to be in school for 7. 30 am , so we could leave for our three hour journey on the bus. It took one hour and a half to get to Dundalk so we could meet with our partners and some of us would get on their bus.
Finally we were in Dublin at Dublin's Viking Adventure. It took us quite a while to get in because the women said we were late , but eventually they let us in. We went down the stairs and got in to a wooden longship where a man started to talk. He spoke loudly and fiercely , he was talking to the gods I did not hear what he was saying but I know he was speaking to Frey asking to calm the weather down. Now the boat started to move it was like being on a real boat with lightning and wind I could feel the wind it was coming from a huge fan and it was making the place really very cold. After the boat stopped a man dressed as a Viking let us off and took us to the settlement, he asked us if we were from up north ? and we all said yes including my partner Anthony O' Rourke from St Treasa's our E.M.U school. The Viking man was still talking and he said that the Celts came and burned down his house they also took wife he said that was the good part I thought if someone took my wife I would be very very upset. The Viking took us over a wooden bridge to his friends house where he asked us if he could kill us ? He looked as if he got washed in mud but his hair looked clean enough. The man asked the female teachers why they were wearing men's clothing ? The Viking also had a wife who offered us all fish that smelt horrible so I said no . We also got a go on his horn from a diseased cow I think Saul was good on the horn . Then the Viking took us to a church were we met a monk and the monk then took us up a big staircase and when we got to the top we were ten metres high and when you looked down you could see the archaeological dig . The monk explained to us all about what they found the last part of the adventure was when we had our lunch and went out the doors to get on the bus so we could go to the National Museum of Ireland to see all the Viking exhibits . It was about one one o'clock when we got to the National Museum so we got off the bus and went in . When we all got into the museum our tour guide took us straight to the Viking exhibits we saw this cross that was made of wood but covered in gold , silver and bronze the guide then took us to the exhibits it was great I found out that the Vikings wore earrings . We also saw a skeleton and a big bow with arrows and an axe . The last thing that was interesting was the swords with gold on them. The time had come for us to go home but the bus was late so it was half three when we left it was a fun day out and I hope to go back.

The Vikings Are Coming

The Vikings had sailed the North sea in eariy October. The gods who control the weather appear to have deserted them. Their food has run out. Suddenly they saw land. It was a stone building with smoke coming out of it from its chimney. They parked their boat on the seashore. When they got out from the boat and went up to the house they were very frightened. They went in but the house was empty so they starts around the house. It was a very big house and there was two tables and four chairs and a very big fire in the middle of the room it had three cows and two pigs in the back room and outside is the toilet and the well. They stayed there for two days but nobody came back, so the Vikings decided to stay there for a few years.

Our Trip to Dublin

On the 3rd February our class from Elmgrove Primary School went on a trip to Dublin with a class from St. Teresa's Primary School. We had to be at school for 7.20am. We waited for the bus that arrived at 7.30. Everybody crowded on to the bus, I found a seat at the front beside Leah and we were off. We all sang songs and talked until the bus got to Dundalk about 9.30am. We stopped off at the Fairways Hotel were we met the class from St. Teresa's. In the car park we were all mixed together and I was on the St. Teresa's bus.
We arrived at Dublin's Viking Adventure at about 11.15am. We all got off the bus, crossed the road, walked up the steps and went in. Before we could start we had to book in again as we were so late arriving. We entered a special room and watched a movie about longships. After the movie finished the curtain went up and a man started to talk about the journey, we started to move and we realised we were on a longship. The man was at the front of the longship; we were at the back and the two parts joined together. The longship moved round in a circle, a storm started with wind and lightning, then the rain came and the people sitting on the right side got wet. I was sitting on the left at the back beside Jamie luckily we did not get wet. We all got out of the longship the man took us to where his house was, before it had been knocked down by the Celts. I had to get sticks and dung for the walls to pretend to help rebuild the house. Then we went to another house where we met a family. The wife asked us if we were Christians. Some people said, "No" and some said, "Yes". She then offered us fish that was three weeks old but we all said, "No thank you". Then she showed us the Horn that we all took a turn at blowing. I made the loudest noise of the girls and Saul was the loudest boy. Next we went to see the Loom used for making clothes. It had big weights that were operated by foot. Then we walked through a church and up a winding staircase into a big feast room, where we saw a movie on the sail of the longship. We had our lunch on the feast tables.
After lunch we walked to the bus and went to the Natural Museum of Ireland. When we went in though the doors, a guide took us upstairs to the Viking exhibit. We saw a boat made of horsehair that was used for fishing. The wooden parts of the boat were made of pine and oak. There was a wooden cross with gold over the top and a ruby in the centre. In another room we saw two toy boats, brooches made of gold that women would wear to hold their clothes together. We saw combs that people carried about because of head lice. When our guide let us we wandered about and had a look at the Egyptian exhibition. Then we had a look round the shop and I bought a notebook and pen. We stood outside the museum for about 30 minutes waiting for the bus to arrive. The driver had got lost. We finally left for home at 3.30pm. We changed back to our own buses in Dundalk at about 5.00pm and started on the final part of the journey. I had a sore head and felt a bit sick on the way home and I was glad when we finally arrived back at Elmgrove School at 6.50pm. It was a very enjoyable trip but I was glad to be home.

The Vikings sailed over to the sandy shore and parked their boat and went over to the house. They knocked on the door of the house. The woman answered the door they banged in and they racked the place and they grabbed the women and tied her up and sat her on a chair and shaped her head off. And they took all the food and went back to the boat and sailed back home.

THE DAY THE VIKINGS CAME

The Vikings were sailing on their ships in the year 793 A. D. They sailed across The North Sea for six days {which was a awful journey because of the storm} They landed on the coast of England. There they saw a house with smoke coming out of the chimney, and they were hoping for food. They went up to the house and knocked on the door. A monk came and opened the door and Thor asked could he have something to eat. Then the monk invited them in to have something to eat. The monk closed the door and went into the house and give them a cup of soup. They felt a bit surprised that the monk had given them something to eat. They were drinking the soup. The Viking, Henning The Hairy said that they had tasted was lovely. The Vikings talked to the monk and looked around. The monk had a scale to weigh his flour and a cauldron to make soup. They said they liked the house and the monk said thank-you. So the monk showed them around the house. The Vikikngs loved all the stuff that was around the house. They wanted he house for themselves because they knew that the monks kept wonderful stuff in their houses. The monk asked if they wanted more soup. Thor said yes please and so did the rest of the Vikings. So the monk made more soup for them and they got more and more and more soup because they were starving from the boat trip. The monk wanted to know where the Vikings came from. The answer he got was Scandiniva. The monk was listening to their everyword and they said that they would like to stay in England {which is what they did} They settled in England and became friends with people. All the time Henning The Hairy wanted all the girls in England. They were very happy there together.

Our Trip to Cultra with St.Teresa's

We were going on a residential from the 8th to the 10 th of March 2000. We left the school at ten o'clock that morning. Miss Steele,Mrs Ardill and Mrs Martin went with us. We went on coachlink to the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum. Once we got there we went into the Common Room to talk about the rules. The woman who was telling us the rules was called Madeline. Madeline had two cats called Shilo and Jamima. Then she showed us to our dorms I was in dorm four with Megan Ellis. Once we put our bags in our rooms we had to come down to the Common Room. The reason we were in the Common Room to get into groups. I was in Mr. Livingston's group. On the trials we went to the Northern Bank,Police station,Printers shop, Kilmore Church and the School. When we got back we got are lunch which was Beef Burgers and Chips. After our lunch we got a little bit of free time. In our free time I went into dorm five, because my friends Natasha and Natalie were in that dorm. Then we went on another trial. But we had to walk up huge hills. Once we got back our feet were aching. Then dinner was ready and it was Chicken Nuggets,Potatoes and sweetcorn. After dinner we got our swimming gear because we were going swimming. But Megan was not going swimming because she had a veruca. So I just stayed with Natasha and Natalie. Kathryn Hillis who is my friend jumped of the high diving board. She was excellent at diving. When we left the Swimmers we went to the Train Station. Me and my friends Megan,Natasha and Kathryn were bored so we started to dance. We were so embarrassed because everyone was staring at us. When we got on the train we all sat together on the train. When we got of the train it was very dark. Philip Boyd kept scaring me and Natasha. When all got into the house's we went upstairs to get our pyjama's on we came downstairs to watch Beethoven and get our supper. After the film was over we went to bed but we were aloud to stay up until half eleven. So we just started to talk. Then we went fast asleep....

The next morning we woke up and got washed and got dressed for breakfast. For breakfast I had toast. After breakfast we got free time to go and brush our teeth and other stuff. Today we went on another trial. Mr. Livingston took us to the Weavers Shop. When we got back Madeline put skipping ropes outside, stelts, and chalk to play hop scotch. Some people got to go to the shop. But I never got to go to the shop. So Madeline said she will open the shop later. When we had to go in a band was in the Common Room. their band was called Jigtime. Jigtime played Irish and Scottish music for us to hear. We clapped our hands and stamped our feet to the music. We thought the music was excellent. After the music we were aloud to go the shop if you hadn't gone yet. So I was in the line waiting to go to the shop. When I got into the shop I bought Rhubarb Rocks which were lovely. Then when we had been to the shop we had more free time before dinner. We went down for our dinner which was sausage, beans and chips they were lovely. After dinner you had to get freshend up,for the quiz. The quiz was about Victorians some of the items were tricky. After we had finished counting up the scores Miss. Steele's team won. After that we went Barn Dancing. The man's name was Mr. Patterson. In the dancing you had to get a partner. I picked Megan Ellis as my partner. We danced to the birdie song, akadoo,Steps,S Club 7 and Catina Joe. It was fantastic. After we had done the dancing we had to stand for one minute. Mr. Glover won. When that was over we went into our dormetreys to get our pyjamas on. Then we went and watched A Bugs Life. In the middle of watching it I fell asleep and Miss. Martin had to wake me up. MUSIC WOMAN

Music woman is as tall as Big Ben in London. By attacking her foes she sounds her music to the highest point, that if you had China and glass in your house it would break. Music woman comes from Los Angeles to come and help people in need. She has a friend she doesn't get along with who is called Candyman. She has so many gadgets one of them is her brass trumpet has loads of cannon balls which would kill you in an instant. Some of the music she rings would make you as deaf as a doorpost that you can't hear anything. Her weakness is salt and pepper that when children spray it in her face she goes haywire and just dies. Another gadget she has is loads of containers. She has loads of violins that when your asleep she slides the bow across the string to wake you up and it is very loud I must say. She is very polite if you are very nice to her and she will play with you. Her favourite thing is to save peoples lives if there in a burning house or if something has collapsed on them she is there to help them. She likes the children when they don't annoy her. Candyman came and hit one of her friends. So Music woman started fighting Candyman and Candyman got broke into pieces and all candy came out of him and we all started eating them. Then someone was in a burning building so music women went in to save the boys life. The boy was had burns so music woman took him to the hospital and the doctor took him to his room to stay over night. Music woman went to see all the children and play with us. Music Woman was hanging around and another fiend she didn't like. She was called Plait Woman. Music woman sounded her music and it defend Plait Woman. So Plait woman thrashed her hair at Music Women and she fell to the ground. Music woman killed Plait Woman. So Music Woman has saved the day that means she is a HERO!

Our Day In Dublin

It was seven thirty the time our class went to Dublin. We got to sit beside anyone we wanted to.
So I sat beside Joanne Boyde. We were in the bus for one till two hours to get to Dundalk. Once we got to Dundalk we went to the toilet after the toilet we got into two groups. I was in Mr. Livingston's group. We got to The National Museum a a little bit late. Our Tour Guide only stayed with us for five minutes. Anyway he took us up stairs to show us a fishing boat. The tour guide told us that the boat was made of pine and oak wood. He said around the mast the edges were made out of the end of a horses tail. I was so surprised because I didn't know that. After we had seen the ship, the tour guide took us in to a room. In the room there was a man and a woman dressed up a Vikings. First we looked a the Viking women. The Viking women wore brooches on their pinafore. The man said the women made combs out of bones,to keep away head lice. The man talked about the Viking Man.
The man said that the man was wearing a silk shirt, and grey leggings. He said the chain mail was like the same weight as seven bags of sugar. The tour guide passed the sword around to let us feel the weight of it. He said that the helmet had no nose piece. The tour guide also said that the helmet was the same weight as one and a half bags of sugar. Then we went on to look at other stuff. We looked at swords, brooches, scales and a skeleton. As we went on we saw lots of beautiful gold. Me and my friends Megan Ellis and Natasha Abbott where walking around in amazement because the gold was so beautiful. We could not believe we could see all this gold. The swords had rotted away, all that was alright was the hilt. We went to the Egyptian room. We got to see the Loughnashade Trumpet, that was the real one. After we had seen the Loughnashade Trumpet we went to the shop, but I left my punts in the bus. After everybody had gone to the shop we got on the bus and drove away.
It took twenty five minutes to go to Dublin's Viking Adventure. We went to the shop before went into the longship. Then we went into the longship. The longship was big and of course made of wood. Me and my friends Natasha and Megan were sitting beside each other on the boat.
Then it showed us a film, and then the screen went up, and a man kept saying words but I did not understand him. The man called "Turn the boat around." Then suddenly rain came down,me Megan and Natasha were screaming our heads off, because we got soaked. The boat stopped the man got of the boat and opened the doors. He said " Did you get wet?"We all shouted "YES!" He took us to the field and it smelt of dung. He said "Did you have a rough trip?" We all chanted "Yes."Then a woman came out and said"What are they doing here?" He said "There here to help ."So the woman took us in to her house. Her husband asked us if we were Christians. All of us chanted " Yes." Then they said have a sit. They give us fish. They also let us blow through a horn but I never got to blow through it. He asked one of the teacher why are you wearing men's clothes because she was wearing men's trousers. We went into a church but we never got to see much. Then we walked up layers. Then we stopped and we saw layers and we found out the further down the further back in time. We saw a skeleton, violin and a Norman helmet. He showed us to the Banquet room were we watched a video. After the film we went to the room where there was Vikings stuff. After we had seen all the stuff like the cross. After that we went on the Woodkey Walk there where loads of pictures on flagstones. Then we went to the bus .As we where going home we went past the River Liffey and saw the boat on the water. We drove to go to Dundalk. We went to the toilet at Dundalk. Then the other bus came and we swapped backed on the same bus backed to Belfast. The time we arrived back at was 6.50
What a fun day I had in The Republic

Life in a Viking Village

They came from Norway, Sweden and Denmark
The women wove clothes
And made flour from a quern stone
They had a cess pit to go to the toilet
They drunk from horns
They built their house with dung and sticks
They had fires to keep themselves warm
They had many games to play like chess
They kept themselves warm in bed with fur
Their beds were their chairs too
They kept cattle and food
They told stories and danced around the fire
They did so many things around the village ,and it must have been hard in a Viking Village

She had a friend called Timothy who was her best friends dog because she loved him like he was her own. Then one day they went for a picnic up on the hill side. Georgina told them about her treasure island and said they had something under the sea that belonged to their grandfather. Then Bobby said can we go to your treasure island and see this thing under the sea. Then when the sun rose they set off with a picnic which had sasuages, pancakes , sandwiches, 8 cans of coke plus two big chocolate cakes. Before they went they went to get Timothy the dog who Georgina loved. But I will tell you something Georgina never ever wore dresses or skirts she always wore dungarees and trousers . Then one day they went to get Timothy. He was gone. Georgina started to cry then she said I just want to act like a boy but boys don't cry said Georgina. But Bobby said boys do cry sometimes like when they fall over . Then when she stoped crying guess who was there, of cause it was Timothy. When a storm came they got away in time. They were glad when they got home to have a nice hot bath. Then Bobby said I had a great time on the treasure island.

Evacuation took place on Spetmber the 1st 1939. And then the war began on the 3rd of September. When the children were getting evacuated they were only allowed to bring one suitcase with things in it, one paper bag, their Identy Card and a gas mask. The children had to travel by train and when they got there they had to wait until someone picked them. Sometimes the brothers and sisters eneded up together or else they got split up. Most children liked to stay with their brothers and sisters.

The 1st World War
The 1st world started in 1914 on August the 4th, and ended in 1918. It went on for 4 years. Posters were stuck up every where to convince men to join the war. If men did not join they got a white feather posted to their door and they were called cowards. Germany, austria, Hungary and Italy were called the Triple alliance and France, Britain and Russia were called the Triple Entente.
The men who went to war had to sleep ad eat in the horrible trenches. Some boys who were 15 said that they older, joined the war and got killed. The trenches had lice and rats sleeping in them as well. They were crammed in together and the grounds of the trenches was mud. They took turns sleeping and always hadone or two men on the look-out. At dawn the men go to a stand-to which means take their rifles and watch.

We came marching round the hill. Suddenly we came to the house it had smoke barging out of the chimney pot. We pushed the door open. The fire was burning and there was a plate of smoking fish waiting to be eating. The people in the house were looking scraed. We felt hungry so we asked for some. The fish was lovely, we asked for some more. When it was time to go we were able to stay for a couple more days because it was cold outside.

A Poem For Elmgrove

Elmgrove is our local school and IearnIng things is our tool.
Lets teach our children well and be in before the bell.
Maths and music are a few of the sublects wehave to do.
Great teachers they're the best but Mrs. Chambers beats the rest.
Reading, writing lots of fun and then Its time to play in the sun.
Orchestra, choir after school lets join in and we'll be cool.
Very good behaviour we all have to try our best to get the best results in our class tests.
Everyone come to Elmgrove it truly is the best
from primary one onewards you can join in on our quest.

CANADA

Canada is a large country in the north of America. Canada shares a boarder with the U.S.A. A part of the north of Canada is inside the arctic circle. In the winter Canada can reach as low as -40C. There is a town in northern Canada called Churchill.
Churchill is on the shores of Hudson Bay. Polar Bears also live in Churchill. If the polar bears get too close to the houses they go to polar bear prison.
Sometimes Hudson Bay and Churchill River freezes and transport is a problem. They can travel around quick on snowmobiles.
The children who go to school are allowed to go outside to play except when there are blizzards and storms and they have to stay home.

The Toffee Man

One day a man was walking down a street he pretended to be a normal man but he was really a robber. He was on the way to the bank pretending he was getting some money. Then he walked to the door and walked in. Meanwhile in the toffee man's cave the toffee man was relaxing there were no criminals for two days. In the bank the robber made the security man drop dead. The robber got two people behind the counter filling bags with money. Then suddenly the toffee man sensed a criminal and thought the criminals were back again . So he got up and ran for the city he was glad there was no sun or else the toffee man would melt. He was outside the bank and then he walked in everyone gasped and started talking among themselves . Everybody was staring he was brown with toffee dripping off him the only difference was his eyes they were big and white . He got the criminal and let everybody out of the bank. He made the criminal stand with his feet together and threw a big lump of toffee at him and he stuck to the bank wall. The toffee man ran through the city and into the country to his toffee cave. Still the robber is stuck on the bank wall.

Ulster Folk and Transport Museum

On Wednesday 8th march we went to the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum in Cultra. We left school at 10.00 o'clock and arrived there about 10.30am.We lifted our bags to our dormatrey I was in dormatrey four.
Jenna,Megan,Carolyn,Jasmin and myself were out of my school . Out of St'Teresa's there was Toni ,Fiona and Anntionette in my dormatrey. The boys were across the street from us. When we went down the stairs we were put into groups I was in Mrs. Martin's group. We got a booklet called On the Move. We had to start at number five. So we started our first trail. We had to walk up big hills and at one time we thought we were lost but we weren't. We didn't get the whole booklet finished but we got most of it done. After that we went back to the house and we went to the dining room for our lunch we got a burger and chips. The boys dormatrey two had to clean up after lunch. The rest of us went to our own dormatrey I put my clothes in a wardrobe and then went down to the common room. Then we got another booklet called the Geography Trail. I could hardly walk. That night we were going to Bangor swimming pool . First we went on the train and we saw a boy and he had lots and lots of Poke'mon things. When we got to the pool there were three pools and Kathryn went on the diving boards. When we got home we went up the stairs and got our pyjamas and our slippers on. Then we went down the stairs and watched Beethoven and after that we went to bed.
The next day when we got I up banged my head because I was on the bottom bunk. Then I went to get washed and then I got ready. After that I went downstairs in my slippers to breakfast . I only got toast because I don't like cereal. The rest of us went up stairs again.I went up the stairs to get into my shoes for outside and to brush my teeth. We went down the stairs again and the group that I was in and some other groups went out . We went to a house and had to draw something I drew a clock. After that we went back to the house and had to draw it on a bit of material. Then all the groups swapped around and my group went to make bread and it was lovely. Then we went back to the house to have lunch it was a baked potato I ate it all except the skin. Then we went back into the common room and Madeline showed us a video of children playing games . After that we had to go outside and play some of the games that were on the video. I got the two balls and was playing with them against the wall for a while. Then I went down for skipping and it was fun. After that I went to the shop and got two lollies and a packet of sweets. Then we got called in to see a band called Jig Time and we listened to their music . Then we got our dinner. After that we had to do a quiz but we didn't win Miss Steele's group won. Then we went up the stairs into a big hall and a man called Mr. Patterson we done dancing for ages and it was brilliant. When we came back from dancing the boys went back to their common room and the girls went to their bedrooms to get into their pyjamas and then went down the stairs to watch a bugs life . I was nearly sleeping in the middle of the video but I didn't. When we went to bed we were talking about dancing but then I soon fell asleep. The next day I had toast at breakfast and my dormatrey had to clean up. When I finished cleaning up I went up the stairs to pack our things and then I had to take my bags down the street. Then my group went to the museum to see all the buses and the trains .Then we went to a different museum. The flight museum and we got a free hat. Then we went home get our bags. After that we went home after a fantastic three days out.

Our Trip to Dublin

On Thursday 3rd Febuary I had to come to school at 7.20am .The bus came at 7.30am. I sat beside Michaela it was a long journey . It was so long that I nearly fell asleep. We stopped at Dundalk at 9.30am to go to the toilet and swap with our partners. I had to go to the St.Teresa's bus. We arrived at Dublin at about 11.15am I was exited and was glad to get of the bus.

I went to Dublin's Viking Adventure first. We went into a very dark room and I was a bit scared . There were seats so me and my partner sat down. A man started talking and I saw the end of a Viking Longship . We started moving and rain fell on us and smoke was all over the place. We came into a sort of garden and the man said if we needed to go to the toilet in a Cess pit we all said no. Then we went into a Viking Longhouse . A man and a woman offered us fish and it smelt awful. Then the man brought out a horn but I didn't want to play it . The woman showed us a loom and told us the bottom was made of clay. They asked the teachers why they were wearing mens clothes because they were wearing trouses. After we went through a church but we didn't see much . Then we went to the archaelogical dig and saw a skeleton, violin, barrel and lots more. After we saw a short video in the same room we ate our lunch . Then we went on the bus again to go to The National Museum of Ireland.

When we got to the National Museum of Ireland we went to the toilet first and Miss Steele took a photo of us first. Our guide took us up the stairs.First she showed us a cross it looked like gold then she told us it was made of wood. Then she showed us a skeleton she said it was probably a slave. After we went to see a man and woman but they weren't real . The man had chainmail and we were allowed to touch it and we were allowed to hold the sword .Then we were allowed to go into the Egyptian room but we weren't allowed very long in there. Then we had to wait until 3.30pm for the bus to come it was another very long ride . When we got to Dundalk we swapped buses again and we didn't get home until 6.50pm.

The Vikings!

?

We know the Vikings are friendly
And they came from Norway
We found out that they married Celts
The Vikings had combs to get rid of head lice
The Viking ships were made of oak and pine
In the middle of their house they had a fire and a hole in the roof
And there was only one room in the house
The children had toys like small wodden boats
And the town was surrounded by walls
Some of the jobs like Blacksmiths or Silversmiths!
And the vikings became Christians
They changed the beds into chairs in the daytime.

World War Two
At nightime when the German bombers came and the siren sounded we had to leave our house and go into the air raid shelter. We had to wait until we heard the all clear, making our way back into our homes to see if there had been any bomb damage. Lots of people had their homes destroyed and were left homeless. Food was in short supply and rationbooks were issued. When it became dark we had to put up blackout curtains s no lights would be showing. There was a ship called the Formidable which shot all night at the Germans in their planes to keep them from bombing the shipyard where our ships were built to help us win the war.

The Plat Teacher

The Plat Teacher is a girl . She is made of wood. She wears pink dresses all the time. She hates plats. Every time she sees a child with plats she cuts them off. Her weapons are her knife, comb and brush. Her knife is to frighten away her enemies and cut hair ,her comb spills green slime and her brush is not a brush it has spikes that are as sharp as a razor blade . Her weakness is rain and water because if she gets wet she will rot away .Every time it rains she knocks on people's doors, and says she's lost,"can i come in , so she can get out of the rain. Her enemy is Plat Woman and they hate each other every time they see each other they start to fight .I don't think they will ever be friends.

A VIKING VILLAGE!

They lived on the Liffey,
They traded and farmed,
They lived all round Dublin.

They were called North men or Norse men,
They traveled from Norway,
Now days we know them as Vikings.

They told sagas and played games,
They drunk out of horns,
Their houses were made of wood .

There shoes were leather,
They had moustache's and beards ,
The Vikings royal colour was blue.

There were blacksmiths and silversmiths
There were farmers and slaves.

The Friendly Vikings

The Vikings are friendly
They came from Norway
They travelld in rough seas and storms
Their houses were made of wood and dung
There is a fire in the middle and a hole in the roof so the smoke can get out
The viking have a cess pit as a toilet
The silversmith make swords and axes
The Vikings traded near the sea

Malawi

Malawi is in South East Africa. It is close to Zambia. Malawi has a huge lake called Lake Malawi. People use it for washing, playing and fishing. The bread they make is called seema bread. Most of the people live close to the lake. They get their water from the waterhole.

Evacuation
When the children got evacuated they were moved to the countryside. Some mothers started to cry when the bus full of children set off. The children went with their parents to the country side. Some of the adults were terrible to the children and beat them. Children didn't only move to the country side they also went to america. Some parents were not that bad to the children and card a lot about the children and loved them very much.
