Our Friends from Elmgrove Manor

Our Friends from Elmgrove Manor

Live & Learn

This exciting and innovative intergenerational project was developed by the National Museums of Northern Ireland and AGE NI and involved a group of our Year 4 pupils working with the elderly residents of Elmgrove Manor.

Following their visit to 'The Queen - Art & Image' exhibition at the Ulster Museum in November, the group used visual arts, photography and storytelling to produce a series of portrait-inspired artworks which expressed something of their individual and group identity.

An exhibition of the impressive artwork produced was held in our school in December and featured the world premier (!!!) of their DVD 'Portrait of Me'.  This gave participants the opportunity to showcase their talents to family, friends & members of our local community.

Those who participated in the project spoke very highly of :
  • the friendships they have formed
  • the skills they have developed
  • the tremendous fun they had taking part !
You are warmly invited to view samples of their wonderful artwork which are on display in the reception outside our Office and in our Community Room.
