Sammy Wilson was again Lord Mayor of Belfast in 2000/2001. He returned to Elmgrove and was interviewed in assembly. His recollection is that this photo is from around 1986 / 1987.

Sammy Wilson MLA (now MP) was a former pupil of Elmgrove Primary School. Presumably he was Mayor of Belfast when this was taken. If you know anything or can date this or can name anybody in these photos contact us.
The newspaper cutting with the second photo was discovered.
Lord Mayor, Sammy wilson, an old boy of Elmgrove Primary School, Beersbridge Road, Belfast, was on hand at the school to present the awards to the children, who picked up prizes in the school's Poster Competition. The competition was bout the "Conn's Water" Conservation Scheme and the winners were (from left); Keith McCracken, runner-up; Julie-Anne McCauley, winner and Michael Dawson, third.
