Welcome to Year 5!

 

 

 

In Year Five we have three teachers:

Urban Digital Futures programme

P5 have worked very hard on their models of the community. The created films about their community and how they made the models. They were very lucky to be invited to an event celebrating all the participating schools achievements. Elmgrove PS won the category for Most Creative. Have a look below to see their amazing films!

 

 

 

 

 

Our topic this term is 'Journey Through Our Community.'

 

 

 

As part of this topic, each class will take part in a guided tour of the C.S. Lewis Trail and get to see some of the places that inspired the young C.S. Lewis.

 

 

Class Novel

This term we will be reading Dick King Smith's fantastic novel, 'The Sheep-Pig.' 

 

 

Accelerated Reader

 

We have been doing lots of independent reading this term and earned hundreds of Accelerated Reader team points!

We were then able to trade these points in for some brilliant prizes.

 

 

 

 

Homework

 

We have written homework four times a week:

 

Monday - maths homework

Tuesday - literacy homework

Wednesday - handwriting homework

Thursday - spellings homework and preparation for Friday test  

 

As well as our maths tasks (Monday - Wednesday), spellings activities and daily home reading. 

 

 

Have you seen the Kids’ Zone? Play games and visit some cool websites. You can vote for your favourites.

  • Mathletics Visit the Mathletics website and take part in fun games set by your teacher. Keep practising and you might become the 'Mathlete of the Week!'
