I was a pupil at Elmgrove from 1980 - 1986 and loved the school, especially music. My teachers were Mrs Downey, Mrs Cole (in a portacabin), Miss Knox, Mrs Wilson, Mrs Manson (upstairs) and finally Mr Simpson.
I played the clarinet and obtained my Grade 3 in P7. In the picture of the concert of 1982 the boy in the blonde hair was Stuart McKaeg and his younger brother Phillip was in my class. I have a photo of the orchestra in 1985 when i was in P6 at my mums in Belfast.
The big concert i remember doing was Oliver around the same time where i played "charlie" and had one line to say - "two lovely hankerchiefs!". I went on to Bloomfield Collegiate School, studied at HUddersfield University and now live in Leeds.
If you would like a copy of the orchestra photo, please e-mail me.

Haven't had a look at the website for a while, but its looking really good now. The photo archives are really piling up! In this particular photo is from left Julie Chapman, Nichola Abbott and Gillian Shaw. I know this because I went to Bloomfield Collegiate that year as well. I don't know why they were at Elmgrove, but from the style of the uniforms and the hair, it looks like their first day at Bloomfield. Gillian had just come back from America with the scheme run by Elmgrove and she was in most of my classes all the way through Bloomfield.
Next time I'm home in Belfast, I'll have to call in and see the school and all its changes.
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
